Why I Decided to Open a Merch Store: Turning a Negative into a Positive

Hey there, it’s Riley Simmonds! You may know me from the various social media platforms I’ve been active on since I was eight years old. I started my journey on the internet at a young age, with an aim to raise awareness about bullying – a harsh reality I personally endured due to a birthmark on my face.

My experiences of exclusion and the pain of being different led me to use social media as a platform for change. But I wanted to do more, to make my message more personal, tangible, and impactful.

Then, an idea sparked from a conversation with my mum. What if we could wear our statements? What if we could literally clothe ourselves in messages of positivity, inclusion, and kindness? The idea resonated with me, and that’s when I decided to start my own merch store.

With the help of some incredibly supportive friends, I was able to put together my very own web store where I could design my own clothing line. My designs are more than just apparel; they’re wearable reminders of the importance of kindness, acceptance, and positive thinking.

Every t-shirt, every hoodie, carries a message – a statement of solidarity against bullying, a proclamation of inclusion, a beacon of positivity.
